In this role you will be the Nursery Lead responsible for training and leading the nursery team. Enjoy our progressive operation including electronic sow feeding (ESF), top-notch biosecurity practices, open pen gestation, along with half our herd being antibiotic free. You will report to the Finishing Service Manager and will be a hands-on leader overseeing operations including employee management, performance management, compliance and safety. Schedules and coordinates daily and weekly tasks with the Service Manager and other department heads and staff. May need to approve time and attendance for farm staff
Conducts a weekly review of departmental performance
Execute monthly supply ordering
Ensures proper feeding processes are followed so animals maximize nursery performance
Implements technical protocols and helps to develop and test new processes
Ensures the farm's working environment is safe by providing safety equipment, training, and actions to prevent hazardous conditions
Ensures all equipment, machinery, and vehicles are accounted for and properly maintained
Works in conjunction with the Service Manager and Human Resources on personnel issues including, but not limited to, hiring, termination, worker safety, performance evaluation, and staffing levels
Is responsible for training all Nursery Technicians and ensures proper animal husbandry skills are being utilized
Must learn and perform the responsibilities described within CVFF s process manual.
Is responsible for complying with all environmental laws and procedures to which the company is required to follow or voluntarily subscribes
Maintains bio-security protocols in the departmentQUALIFICATIONSThis Role is for You if:
You have a High School Diploma or a General Education Degree (GED) and a minimum of one year of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
You are multi-task oriented and a team player
You have the ability to define problems, collect and interpret data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
You have prior livestock management; prior swine preferred, but open to other livestock backgrounds such as dairy, heifer management or poultry.
